Top 5 point guards in NBA

NBA has a surplus of outstanding PGs

Here are the top 5 point guards in the NBA today.

1) Stephen Curry, Golden State Warriors

The smaller Splash Brother could very well post the first 50/40/90 shooting season in NBA history, which should probably make him the best point guard in the NBA on its own. Quite simply, Steph can do it all, and it appears that he and James Harden are the early favorites to capture the 2014-15 MVP award.

2) Russell Westbrook, Oklahoma City Thunder

Westbrook doesn't technically qualify among NBA stats leaders due to the games he missed earlier this season, but his totals in 21 appearances almost seem superhuman. 27 points, seven assists and six rebounds per night? That's all in just 31 minutes per game. The Thunder looked lost without Westbrook and Kevin Durant, but with Durant gone and Westbrook playing, Oklahoma City still looked like a playoff team. If healthy for the rest of the season, Russ could easily land in the MVP discussion.

3) Chris Paul, Los Angeles Clippers

Don't take Paul for granted. more than 17 points, almost 10 assists and exactly two steals per game while posting a player efficiency rating of 24.7. Paul trails only Curry and Russell Westbrook in that category, and while the Clippers have experienced some turbulence this season, his importance to Los Angeles cannot be overstate.

4) Kyle Lowry, Toronto Raptors

Lowry is the catalyst for the second best offense in the NBA, and his value is easy to see with the DeMar DeRozan's extended absence. He ranks fourth in scoring and sixth in assists among point guards while turning the ball over just more than twice a game, an impressive mark for someone who handles the ball as Much as Lowry does. All of that plus a 24-10 Toronto start earns him the fourth spot on this list, which should earn the Raps point guard a trip to the 2015 All-Star game in New York.
